Kids Grow Club
Our free kids gardening club for over 20 years
We’re often asked the question here at Van Putte Gardens, “What’s best for the environment?” Although the answers can be endless, one thing we can do for the environment is teach our children how to love and respect nature. Over the years we have learned that the immediate and long-term benefits of encouraging kids to plant and maintain their own gardens is enormous.
In December of 1994, Van Putte Gardens established a kids gardening group: the Van Putte Kids Grow Club! We believe the garden is an excellent place to encourage a child’s creativity, curiosity, and self-discipline. Our grow club is free, open to kids ages 5-12, and easy to join!
Our meetings expose children to the beauty of nature with various organic and vegetable gardening projects and other nature activities designed to appeal to several different age groups. You’ll be surprised what you can learn in a child’s garden, and the opportunity to hear a child’s thoughts will help you guide their personal growth as well as their gardening growth.
- The club meets three times a year (March, August, October) and creates a fun seasonal project.
- Children can learn from experts about garden seeds, plants, trees, bird feeding and much more!
Next meeting:August 2020, stay tuned for potential updates.
