Description

A beautiful landscape relies on its trees and shrubs for structure. We like to think of them as the woody, perennial heart of your garden! Learn how pruning the appropriate plants at the correct times of the year will make your garden flourish.

This workshop begins with a discussion of the different pruner styles and sizes, and how to keep this most important tool in tip-top pruning condition. Then we demonstrate on both deciduous and evergreen tree & shrub pruning methods paired with our handy tips of the trade. Make sure your landscape is healthy going into winter this year and you’ll be (at least) two steps ahead when spring rolls around again next year!

To help you through your new adventures in pruning, all participants will receive a $5 Van Putte voucher toward pruners, trees, shrubs, or anything else you might need from the garden center!

PLEASE NOTE:

  • All participants will receive a $5 voucher at this event to use on anything in the nursery or garden center (expires 4/30/24).
  • Pen and lecture notes will be provided.
  • This class is subject to cancelation if a minimum attendance is not met. If this occurs, refunds will be issued.
  • As a reminder this class is held in a greenhouse and fluctuation in temperature does occur. We recommend wearing layers.
  • There are no refunds for workshop purchases unless we are able to fill the spot(s) from our waitlist. In the event you must cancel and your space cannot be filled, you will be able to pick up workshop materials at a later date to create your project at home. Due to material costs, limited class sizes and the popularity of our workshops, allowing people to sign up and then cancel would make it so others cannot attend.
